Ael Y Bryn/Pen Y Bryn, Ystradgynlais
Powys County Council's Housing Development Team is excited to announce a new housing project in Ael Y Bryn/Pen Y Bryn, in the town of Ystradgynlais in the south west of Powys.
The project will deliver walk-up flats on the site of four current blocks of flats originally built in the 1970s. The four existing blocks of flats do not meet current housing need, so they are being demolished to make way for the new flats, which are in high demand. The scheme has been designed to meet Welsh Development Quality Requirements 2021 (WDQR 2021), Secured by Design Gold, and Lifetime Homes, and to meet EPC A rating.
Development Highlights:
- Housing Options:The project includes a house type to suit specific need:
- 16 x 1-bedroom walk up flats
- Prime Location: Situated 25 miles southwest of the town of Brecon and 15 miles northeast of the city of Swansea, it is close to local amenities, schools, and well-connected transport links and bus routes.
- Community and Sustainability: This development will enhance the local environment and contribute to the sustainability of the community, providing modern, energy-efficient homes that are affordable to run.

- Planning approved date: July 2023
- Demolition start date: October 2024
- Estimated construction start date: August 2025
